I've Decided to Go Public

It starts as a tingle in the back of my skull. An inkling of desire. Then a flash followed by a desire. A strong desire growing with every moment. Finally, the full impression emerges and I know what I'm seeing is true.

Yes. True.

I'm a psychic.

It was high time I just came out and said it. My gift is rather specific and a little spooky. No matter where I am, no matter what I'm doing, I can tell you if there's a new Hannah Montana on TV at that moment.

When this started happening, I figured it was an accident of luck. After all, Hannah Montana is on TV at least 12 times a day. But there I was, doing dishes, suddenly aware that I needed to watch Hannah right now. I turned on the TV to see an episode I'd never seen. (No, I won't comment on why I watch so much Hannah Montana*. It's quality TV. No need to justify.) A few days later, I was in my room watching watching something grown up and supposedly absorbing when I realized I *had* to check Disney. Yep, that's right. New episode. And then today as I was eating dinner - the familiar feeling. I turned on the TV. Yup. New Hannah. Uplink working. Do I understand why The Universe has chosen me for this calling? I must just be blessed.

Sure, you could pay me for my services...but who would want to?

Quote of the day:

"I quit therapy because my analyst was trying to help me behind my back." -- Richard Lewis

*It probably has something to do with Billy Ray Cyrus saying, "I'm the hot chick's father. How do I look?" Or the fact that it's just good, clean fun. Or the enterprising Jackson who makes me laugh just like Shia LeBoe....I can't spell his name...used to do.

Labeouf, Glo!

Because it's you, I will hide my obvious pang at you not knowing enough about Luscious Shia. According to Wikipedia, Labeouf is apparently French for 'the beef'. And Shia is Hebrew for 'gift from God'. That he is.

Great niblets, that's a wonderful gift Glo. Cart it around to the Disney crowd, you never know who your psychic abilities will affect.

I quite like Shia, too. But it never ceases to amaze me how many names are creditted as being Hebrew for "gift from G-d". The correct name that fits that definition is Nathaniel. Not Shia, not Andrew (I've seen that one claimed). Shia is usually a variation on Joshua, which means "He will save".

Off my soapbox now.

Anyhow, nothing to be ashamed of in liking the Disney Channel. It's my favorite, the only one I can reliably watch on those rare occasions I have access to a TV. Hannah is great.

Yeah, I've pretty much been telling you you're psychic for years now.

Is this what we label a "useless gift"?

Lia : I figured it wasn't right. I'm wondering whether Labeouf is actuallt French for The Beef. Thanks for the explanation, Lia. It was positively illuminating. :-)

Okay Ms. Smarty-Pants Psychic: what am I thinking?

. . .

Wow.

You're really good at this.

I'd like the version of this gift where I'm tuned in to the Law & Order: Criminal Intent re-run episodes with Chris Noth - that would be quite useful.

I'm surprised they haven't had you on Letterman yet.

My gift? On those quite rare times I slow down enough to actually sit and watch TV I will inevitably watch the exact same 15 minutes of the exact same rerun I happened to catch the last time I had a moment to watch TV. Everytime. It's like Groundhog Day, only different.

Lianne: Useless? How can you speak such heresy?

Also, my gift is a whole lot more like compulsive writer's than Glo's.

Your gift seems as strangely useful as mine - I can find Antique Roadshow on the t.v. at any point during the day. My husband isn't as impressed with my talent, however.

I have watched exactly one episode of Hannah Montana and I'm pretty sure it changed my life for the better. I can only imagine if I caught every new episode!

I know I'm overdoing this, but I've been thinking about this for days now. Shia's not "gift" in Hebrew, but in Aramaic (not Arabic), "shai" means gift. So maybe that's what people were thinking of? Still, Shia is not Shai; they're pronounced (and spelled) differently. Also, there's no reference to God in that.

Shea is a Gaelic name, according to babynames.com. It means "admirable" or "from the fairy fort". I kind of like the fairy fort concept.

I really will stop now. Or at least, I'll try to stop.
