Musings from a pudgy dietitian who is liberal of politics but conservative in behavior, arrested between feminism and maternal instinct, complicated yet simple, flirting with humility but in love with vanity. My TV Doppleganger
I love the BBC series Monarch of the Glen, mostly because of the crazy, sweet, adorable, confused cook named Lexie. I think she's a lot like me in reality - crazy amidst insecurity, kind but selfish, off-balance yet confident, funny amidst sadness. She is everyone's best friend, true to the end, anxiously working towards happy endings for all - yet frequently denied the few things in life that she needs to be happy.
I found this link to clips of Lexie at her best. Some of them are frighteningly scary in the memories they provoke for me. And yet I love her. She's one of the most complex characters on TV - which is why the BBC is her home.

Cheese and crackers, Demosthenes - are you interested in a monkey and a mulberry bush to go with that "weasel?"
I thought I was good at backpedaling. I don't even qualify as an amateur compared to you.
(sorry, couldn't resist)
And unfortunately, when I try to load clips all I see is "Waiting for www.bbc.co.uk..." :-(
Guess I'll try again later.
Hi, Glo! ...Weekend?
I know. A weekend post. Unexpected and unusual. I'm trying to change things up a bit.
RaJ - you are hilarious. Dem is a bit blindsighted by the idea that my "hair" has a life of its own, I think :) And Dem - I'm so shocked you guessed one reason why Lexie and i are so similar!
I LOVE this show! I use to watch it all the time when it was on Sunday nights on PBS...'course I love the BBC...I'm thinking of getting cable (or whatever) just for everything British.
