So - spring is upon us and all my galpals are lookin' for love - and finding it!! It's a good day to be single. Mayhaps the new movie, Failure to Launch, has convinced the reticent gentlemen of the world that today is the day to turn off the Nintendo and enter grown-up life.
Since Cate and I tied for the Oscar bet, I decided there is no excuse not to pay up my debt. I picked up the cell phone and dialed my fiance (a.k.a. Idaho boy). He didn't answer. Then he called me back. Thus far, all seemed promising, so I comforted myself with the idea that love is in the air and waited for the bells and whistles of sublime hoogity.
We talked. I heard no bells. I reminded myself that I am destined to be with Idaho boy. The Oscar bet has determined it!! But by the time we waded through his exalted opinion of George Dubya, I was sunk. Perhaps, I realized, love has once again sailed by me.
We ended the conversation on an appropriately non-committal note. Idaho boy said, "Well, you know I'm lousy at communication, but this is nice. We'll probably talk again."
Ah.....such words of love were never spoken.
I left his number programmed. I'm getting old. At some point, desperation may set in. And I may be needing dates for ... events ... soon.
Roomie and I played Tetris and girlified her recent relationship. There was a lot of sighing. Can you sigh during video game play?! Well, we did. And it was great. There's hope out there, they say. Maybe not for me - but my galpals are certainly sounding thrilled with life right now.

Maybe he just needs a little more time.
(Notice the hair color. There's something fateful there. Or maybe that's 'fatal' as in 'fatal to me'...) :-O
Way to show me up. Way to be all fulfill-the-Oscar-bet-right-away instead of waiting until the last minute, like I plan on doing.
You know how nuts my family is! You only have to deal with my whining - but I had half of Idaho on tenterhooks! The pressure, Cate! It was all about the pressure.
slightly anti-climactic, this...but you make it work. Idaho guy sounds decent but mostly uncommentable.
sounds like a good night with the tetris and Roomie. when is Cate going to call up Noodle Guy?
Huzzah for you! Way to be on top of things! I think, if this guy can say that at you, then he's not worth it. Harumph.
eh, there are plenty of loving couples whose members keep their ballot-biases to themselves to avoid sleeping on the couch. at least you found out now so you can decide if it's a dealbreaker.
Hey! I'm still alive, I can't talk much now but I'll stop by later.
Tetris seems to be the most exciting thing going on right now. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
I used to have a terrible fear of Tetris. So I forced myself to play nonstop and beat all the high scores. Then I was addicted. Then I got bored. Now I'm addicted to Snood. Good luck on future nights in.
Wait. I just this again, and-- fiance? Did I miss a step or two of formaility here, or am I just reading too carefully?
