Score one for the good guys

I am currently waiting for LA traffic to dissipate. This is a bit like saying I am waiting for the ocean to evaporate. In fact, it is more likely that the ocean will dry up than that I-10 wil become passable in the next 20 minutes. As a point of fact, more droplets of water will be lost forever to the Pacific than cars will move 10 feet in the next 20 minutes. LA traffic makes me curse. As I am concerned about the immortal balance of good v. bad, it's really best to just wait it out in the quiet of my after-hours office.

The reason I drove today is the motivation for tonight's entry. My youngest brother has been in town with his fiancee, who he loves to distraction. This morning, instead of taking public transportation, I drove them up to see my sister. The men in my family are the reason I never give up on love, despite the horrific lack of romance in an over-sexed world. However, after recent snarky posts about lame things guys do, I thought I owed them a very sweet entry.

Here's a list of amazing guy things:

Little bro got choked up watching the video of his proposal to fiancee.

Big bro has a language all his own with his 9-month old daughter who goes to work/school with him every day. They growl at each other and then laugh. He calls her "Bug" and she gives him kisses.

Bro-in-law came all the way in to LA to help me out when I missed the train and never once even suggested that I plan ahead next time.

My dad honestly doesn't understand why I'm not married yet. He also loves my mom always, unquestioningly and yells at us only if the phrase "you upset your mother" applies.

Bagel guy came running after me because I forgot my napkins.

Train guy gave up his seat even when I told him I was fine standing.

Next door neighbor guys scolded me for moving things myself when they were home watching TV and would have been happy to help.

Uncle always lets me nap in the comfy chair even if it means he has to watch TV upstairs instead of on the big screen.

Dismas said his wife is more incredible than Giselle.

Thanks guys. You're fabulous. Too bad you're all taken!

Well, looks like traffic is clearing up. Have a good night all!

I now have a song stuck in my head...Pam Tillis singing "seems like all the good ones are gone"...Ain't that the truth.

Yet hope remains...

It's a faint glimmer, but there seems to be some light. If next door neighbor guys would cease to worship the Heineken idol they have constructed in the living room window, they would be a definite possibility.
