Get Out and Good Riddance

Goodbye 2005. Please don't expect a tearful farewell.

It was the year that......

began and ended with a flood. Literally.

originated thriving and ended surviving.

stopped pleasure-seeking and started coping.

saw the utter demise of vanity and the birth of harsh reality.

taught that I am usually wrong and frequently to blame.

illustrated that being religious means standing alone most of the time.

denounced eros as a false god.

restored the gates and rebuilt the walls.

Am I sadder now? Yes. But I feel like I've returned to who I once was. I'm less self-important, more aware that my actions influence others for good or ill, aware that to be rooted is more important than being popular. In short, I think I finally grew up.

So, what's on dock for 2006? Well, I've spent hours and hours coming up with the perfect resolutions and here they are:

1. I will go no more than 2 days without toilet paper and cat food in the house.

2. I'll throw out any stinky shoes, no matter how cute they are.

3. Same goes for leftovers.

Yep. That should do it. A much happier year in the works already. Best wishes to all in 2006!

Wait a minute, growing up means I have to be less self-important? BAH.

Some people should remain kids forever. Now - go and enjoy yourself, man - you gotta go back to work tomorrow!

Sounds like 2005 kinda sucked. That sucks. Hope 2006 is much much better!

Glo, I'm having a hard time believing that you are usually wrong and always to blame.

Be careful assuming guilt for *everything*. :P It's a very dangerous thing to do.

It's ok to be aware of your own faults. I just don't want to see you make up new ones that don't really exist. You are too sweet a person to put yourself into a state of undeserved guilt.

But my best writing happens when I'm depressing...I never knew how much Russian novelist I had in me!

If you're that depressing and dark, you should write some Vampire novels. ;)

2006 is going to be The Year. I can feel it in my waters. And with resolutions like that, you can't go wrong. Yay cat food!... or something.
